1853 date is imprinted on the foot of the title page, copyright page states 1850 as does the Testimonial from the Connecticut Historical Society. A worn copy in brown ruled paper to look like leather. Illustrated with b/w steel engravings, one loose and layed in. Book is missing the backstrip covering that had the title, author, etc., all corners rubbed. Fold-out map opposite the title page is tatty on the edges and has a crescent shaped, taped closed tear. Foxing present throughout. 509 page block is sewn in, holding fine save for aforementioned loose plate. Ugly but solid working copy... View more info
