1st edition hardcover. Boards bowed and rubbed at edges, rust cloth backstrip soiled and rubbed at spine ends. Stapled page block rusted at staples, occasional finger soil in the margins, no page tears. No date but tidy gift dedication on fep is dated 1903. A super book for the hunter who has everything. Displays well on the shelf and will come in a protective heavy mylar, removable wrap to protect the boards from handling. Funny foxhunting tale in the same vein as Jorrocks, this time it's Mr. Popple who retires and decides to move to a hunting country and set up a stud for himself. He has no idea of the whys and wherefores of the hunting field and it's manners and etiquette and through 20 pp including 10 full page plates along with opposing b/w drawings and text peppered with smaller vignettes, we learn just how much of a blunderous chap Mr. Popple Is.
