Book Condition: Very Good

Very good 1st edition hardcover in a very good and complete dust wrapper. The classic work by Santini. A tight, bright, straight copy lightly sunned along backstrip with gilt title faded, but still legible. Gilt cover title with triple-ruled gilt 'frame' looks 'coppery', rather than bright gold but remains bright. Board tips and spine ends bumped but not rubbed. Tidy gift dedication at upper edge of fep, no other marks anywhere save for light foxing on the endpapers and dj flaps only. Inner hinges are fine, rest of the 161 pp text is crisp, clean and well illust with many b/w photos and 34 line drawings by Paul Brown. Original, black and white photo illustrated blue background dj shows micro chips at 3 tips, color loss at spine ends and along edge where frt panel and backstrip meet. Ecru background rear panel lightly and evenly soiled with two short closed tears at foot of rear panel, and one ink spot on the title of Riding Reflections, one of the other titles in Santini's horsemanship trilogy, (the third being 'The Forward Impulse', FYI). Lower frt flap of the original dj clipped but price remains above the clip (18 s. net), jacket now in new mylar and displays well. The 3rd title in Santini's trilogy of books on horsemanship based on the Italian cavalry tradition as interpreted by Caprilli. Designed primarily for teaching newbies through intermediates with a long section on teaching riding to higher levels (Instructing the Instructor).
