Book Condition: Very Good

First US edition, first printing paperback in glossy card covers with a super close up of a black woman's face whom I don't know and is not mentioned that I can find. Cover tips lightly lifted with a bit of curl, does not detract from this over-sized collection of photos and historical text from yesteryear through the talent of today. From Josephine Baker of the 1920s to Wesley Snipes of 2000. Book is a 'big 'un', measures 12 1/8" tall by 9 1/8" wide. 175 pp glossy text is mint, shows no page 'dents' from turning. There is no writing, it is not exlib, there are no tears and no soil found. A quality full size color snapshot on nearly every page, some folks you'll know, some you won't but you'll appreciate all the people of color have brought to the entertainment field. From the days of the first African slaves arriving in Europe, to the evolution of cosmetic products and hairstyles, to the celebrities past and present who have represented the diverse array of beauty styles, black beauty has been a cause without a portfolio, missing as a topic from the recordings of black experience.
