Book Condition: Fine

Gift quality hardcover with lightly bumped and brushed spine ends, board tips still sharp. Negligible color loss at upper extremities. First published in 1933 by Alfred A. Knopf, Inc., this is the undated Grosset and Dunlap Famous Horse Stories reprint with the numeral #2274 at foot of back strip (as published, not hand written). No names, tears or soil in the crisp 302 pp text and this is not a former library copy. Unclipped and unpriced color illustrated dust wrapper matches the cover art (but has more red in it than the book). It has small chips at spine ends and color loss along the foot of the frt panel. This dust jacket is a professional reproduction that displays well in new mylar and will keep this book looking fab going forward. Frog, the U.S. Cavalry horse stationed in Panama, is described as a vicious outlaw destined to be destroyed until Lieutenant Scott is sent to Panama and he turns the bay horse into a good polo mount. Author S.P. Meeks is a 16 year army veteran and describes what was a peaceful Panama Canal zone with authenticity.
