Blue cloth hardcover with white title on front board and gilt title on spine. Light color loss to bumped (not rubbed) tips. The cloth on the backstrip shows a couple of dents and one micro break in the cloth that is barely noticeable. Former owner's address label on upper tip of fep, 160 page heavy gauge ecru text is tight and bright, inner hinges fine. Originally published in 1937, this is an undated copy with a dedication page after the copyright page that is imprinted by the publisher, To Madeline Percival with the author's love. I don't recall seeing this page in other copies I have had in the past. Illustrated with full page black & white plates by Lloyd. Scarce professionally reproduced pictorial DJ in new mylar shows small chips and color loss but still displays well. This is probably the most requested horse story in our shop. It is the story of young Jenny, a beginner rider who learns from the talking Shetland pony "Tattles" and his other pony friends, the secret password of "Silver Snaffles" which transports her through a secret door in the back of the stall into a world where ponies talk and teach young riders how to ride them properly and treat them well.
