Gift quality hardcover in blue paper covered boards with gold spine title shows sharp tips and bumped (not rubbed) spine ends. Unclipped dj in mylar shows no chips, just some light rubbing at head of spine and head of rear panel, along with some light surface soil on white background rear panel that lists other titles by this author. Original, full color illustrated spine and front panel have wrap around art and show a hint of darkening in the sky area at top 1/3 of frt panel, but still displays beautifully in new mylar. Book is not an exlib. 192 pp text is crisp and unmarked save for light age-toning on endpps from dj paper. Lindy Smith, who is part gypsy, lives in the Highlands of Scotland and knows every inch of the surrounding countryside. She loves horses and when Frandia Kendrick, and her friend Stephen Hartley, organize pony trekking holidays based on the local hotel, Lindy spends all her spare time helping. Under Fran's guidance Lindy learns to 'show' horses successfully and it is at a Scottish gymkhana that one of Stephen's highly-bred horses bolts and is killed. Although Lindy was not really responsible for the accident she feels that it was her fault and for some time cannot be persuaded to ride again. How she eventually overcomes her fears and wins the cross-country race on Robbie, makes for an exciting finish.
