Reprint hardcover in illustrated mustard and green colored cloth covered boards with deep black titles on cover and spine, cover has yellow pine trees before a green sky background. Book itself looks fabulous, spine ends bumped, tips still sharp. Inner hinge papers are fine, no names, tears or soil within the 308 pp text. Price-clipped original color illustrated dust jacket has a chip at the head of spine with last three letters of the word 'Flower' filled in onto dj mylar's paper backing. Light color loss at tips and bit of abrasion to publisher's name at dj foot of spine. Book displays well on the shelf with jacket now in new mylar. A romance of struggle in the great Hudson Bay country. An old house built two hundred years before by a chevalier of France who came into the wilderness, is the setting for the more fascinating scenes of this story. To the world outside it is known as D'Arcambal house, but Philip Whittemore, who is admitted to the inner sanctuary of the home by its master, Henry D'Arcambal, learns to know it by its old name: Fort o'God. In the background there is a fight - a fierce struggle between Philip and the forces of wealth and greed that are united to crush him, but at heart the story is a romance. And the romance centers about fair Jeanne, who has grown to womanhood at Fort o'God where the wild flavor of the wilderness is so strangely blended with the courtly atmosphere of old France.
