First edition hardcover in red paper covered boards with black title and cowboy on rearing horse holding a coiled lariat in one hand on spine of book and dj. Spine ends bumped, tips fairly sharp, tape glue residue marks on both covers and pastedowns from formerly taped down dj. This is not an exlib. No call tags on book or dj spines. 158 pp text tight and bright without names or tears but an occasional soil spot or fingerprint. Price-clipped original color illustrated dust jacket shows a pair of cowboys, one wearing a silver star, mounted on horses, both offering their horse a drink in a stream. Book displays well on the shelf with slightly sunned yellow background, turquoise type (title, author, publisher) and a red outline drawing of the cowboy on the rearing horse with the coiled lariat in his hand. Very light yellow background rear dj panel is evenly surface soiled, and has a suggestion for further Western adventure reading. Front dj panel has light soil on the upper fore edge of yellow background illustrated cover. Texas Ranger, Big Lyle Batson was tired of being on the receiving end of little Pack Sobey's schemes. So Lyle decided things must change; but in twenty-four hours he had been drygulched, assaulted and tossed into jail on a trumped up charge. After this, event after action-packed event as Lyle finds himself involved in a jail break and a bank robbery and then he becomes a member of Nick Raker's infamous gang. When Lyle hears his pardner Sobey has been wounded, he got his chance to show he could be the brains end of their team and that gun skill and courage were really needed in the gunblast showdown of acrid smelling cordite and whining lead.
