First edition exlib hardcover in color illustrated cloth boards in matching illustrated dust wrapper. Nice copy with bumped spine ends, tips fairly sharp. No call tags or letters on spine of book or matching DJ. Pocket pulled but all pages present. Front free end paper has been glued to the pastedown so book opens to the half title page. I saw some faint fingerprints in margins when thumbing through the book. Price-clipped dj in new mylar displays well but flaps have glue residue from formerly placed clear cello tape. Small sticker pull on rear dj panel taking part of a word or two from the description of The Gray Dog from Galtymore. No other issues with the remaining 6 titles listed, further dog book reading ideas from this author. In this tale, Chipperfield conveys the story of a half wolf, half dog that was found in a pack of wolves. Born in the Canadian Northland, Boru had been captured while he was still a cub, the brutal Michael Ryan of Dawson saw money in making him a fighter for the dog-pits, where men thronging to the Gold Rush amuse themselves. A kindly man and his Native American friend rescue Boru from the fighting pits and restore the dog's ability to trust humans. One of Joseph Chipperfield's most exciting stories.
