Nice solid 4th printing hardcover in butternut cloth covered boards with brown spine title. 249 pp text is tight and bright, hinges fine, no markings within. Unclipped (and unpriced) color illustrated jacket is a professional reproduction that shows chips to four corners of frt panel, the one at head of spine, took most of the first title word then wraps around to head of rear gutter and outward 1.5". Connie Ware felt very glum. What a wash-out Larry Maine, the new neighbor, had turned out to be. Thirteen, her own age, he was beyond doubt a sissy. Imagine being afraid of horses! But Clown, her nine-year-old brother, felt quite differently. After all, it was Larry who had found the curious penny in the abandoned hamlet while digging a garden and now they had a club, Plough Penny Farm. It was after the horses and pets had been moved into the shed and the deserted school-house fixed up as a meeting place that trouble started. A prowler who left no footprints, a locked warehouse door, and a puppy's crushed paws involved the Plough Penny Rangers in a mystery that threatened to dislodge them from their club grounds and disrupt all their vacation plans. No one could know that Larry's unattended campfire had not set fire to the school-house nor did any one realize that Sambo's skunk, an uninvited contribution to a hamlet party, was to provide the all important clue in this baffling mystery.
