First edition (so stated) hardcover in mauve cloth covered boards shows bumped and lightly brushed spine ends, tips remain fairly sharp with color loss. The book is not an exlib. 131 pp text is crisp and unmarked but has some foxing on endpprs. Book is in a complete, unclipped original turquoise background dust wrapper with a photograph of Harry de Leyer & Snowman taking a sizable oxer at a show. DJ has color loss and short creases at tips and spine ends. Displays well in new mylar and has kept this book in fine form. Frontispiece and b/w photographs. Biography of the grey Pennsylvania plow horse purchased and rescued at auction for a whopping $80 after being taken off the back of a farm truck on it's way to the meat packing plant one snowy afternoon by Harry De Leyer for and who was turned not only into a 'loved by all, especially children, family pet' but also into a world-famous show jumper in 1956. Earning his name from his all-white coat, Snowman won Champion at the 1958 National Horse Show and the National Horse Stakes in 1959 and was inducted into the Show Jumping Hall of Fame in 1992.
