On retirement in 1972 they came to Worcestershire near to the haunts of the Canon's childhood. In 1975-76 he looked after the parish of Wichenford during an interregnum of eleven months and they made many friends there. Both Canon and Mrs. Beach are graduates of Leeds University where they first met and have continued a partnership ever since, of which the Story of Wichenford is an expression. When the work was finished they discovered they had each written the same number of chapters. Cover dj photo of The Washburn Arms in Wichenford Church.
