Howard Killen. Illustrated with b/w photos. This is a rare historical and biographical 216 pg work by Howard Killen who attempts to chronicle the events during his early life just as they occurred. Events are covered from the time of his very first recollection (about age two), until his enlistment into the U.S. Marine Corps in the early 1940's. Born in 1920 about two hundred yards from the banks of Possum Creek. The Possum Creek area was a very small rural neighborhood, consisting mostly of kinsmen and closely knit families. It was referred to as living "Down on Possum". There was no post office. Mail went through the post office at Killen, Alabama. A Mr. Hyde brought it round by horse and buggy.
