Born in Brussels, Belgium, of missionary parents, Elisabeth Elliot holds a B.A. in Classical Greek from Wheaton College. She has also studied at the University of Oklahoma, and a Prairie Bible Institute. In 1952, she went to Ecuador as a missionary, and in 1953 she married Jim Elliot, missionary to the Ouichua Indians, and worked on the Ouichua language and Bible Translation. After Jim's death in 1956, she and her daughter continued hiw work with the Auca Indians, working on the reduction of Auca language with a view to Bible translation. She was visiting professor at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary from 1974-1976 and again in 1979. She married Addison H. Leitch, a professor at Gordon-Conwell Seminary, who dies in 1973. She is now the wofe of Lars Gren, a hospital chaplain. This series is the "spiritual results" of a modern day life similar to that of Job. Elisabeth Eliot is a wonderful example of God's grace through suffering.
