Solid copy in original oatmeal cloth with block print red/black titles and illust of Mike and his Steam Shovel on frt board. NOT exlib. Copyright 1939, by Virginia Lee Demetrios on copyright page, no other dates or printings noted and is NOT a book club edition. No date listed on title page. No dust jacket. Moderately soiled cloth from storage, some facing/splotchyness on upper fore edge of frt board. Illustrated bright yellow background endpapers show parts of the steam shovel and different things it can do. 48 unpaginated leaves not including endpapers. Text tight and bright. No names or tears and only occasional smudge or two in margins on a few pages. Tips rubbed w/boards peeking through but no unsightly fraying. "A modern classic that no child should miss.
