1 Rodenas, Paula; Foreword by Bill Steinkraus The De Nemethy Years One Man's Influence on American Riding
NY Arco Publishing Co. 1983 0668056789 / 9780668056786 First Edition Hard Cover Near Fine Very Good + Photographs
Brilliant copy in brown boards w/gilt titles. Lightly bumped spine ends, award presentation on inside cover, else as new. Unclipped dj in new mylar shows one small paper pull on rear head of dj panel 1" x 1/2", still displays beautifully. de Nemethy coached the United States Equestrian Team jumpers for twenty-five years. Here is an assessment of the man whose influence on riding was so strong that it affected everything from backyard riding to international competition. de Nemethy talks to Rodenas about his views on many subjects: the USET as it was and is now, the Pan American Games and the Olympics, the jumping teams of other nations, the role of dressage in show jumping, schooling horses (the importance of lungeing and cavaletti,) and course designing. Great riders from the teams of the 1950's and 1960s (Hugh Wiley, Bill Steinkraus, George Morris, Frank and Mary Chapot) and today (Melanie Smith, Katie Monahan, Michael Matz) share their recollections of what it was like to work with de Nemethy. The photographs, many of them from de Nemethy's private collection and never before published, are certain to interest horsemen of all ages. Requied reading for any serious rider.
