London Rudolph Ackermann 1843 First Edition Hardcover Good+ No Jacket Book Illustrated 
First edition, solid reading copy in green leather over green cloth boards with ruled gilt trim. Five raised bands with gilt embellished panels on somewhat sunned spine. Corners & spine ends bumped and rubbed, gutters starting 1 inch at head and foot, still looks great on the shelf. Marbled end papers, inner hinge split but page block holding fine. 332 pp. Former copy of Dr. William J. Lay M.F.H. w/ownership sig on preliminary page. 32 illustrations, including 9 hunting maps with vignettes at head. Full title: Hunting Reminiscences: Comprising Memoirs of Masters of Hounds; Notes of The Crack Riders; And Characteristics of the Hunting Countries of England. Illust with plates after Wildrake, Henderson and Alken.

First edition 1843, originally published separately as Masters of Hounds, The Crack Riders and Hunting Countries of England 1842. Solid copy in green embossed fabric with gilt huntsman jumping a timber fence on frt board, spine sunned and rubbed at periphery. Corners & spine ends bumped and rubbed, rear gutter starting 3.5 inch at head. Cream endpapers with H.T. Cooke, High St. Warwick stamped at upper edge and armorial bookplate of Thomas Aloysius Perry, British horticulturist on frt pastedn. Foot of rear pastedn has a tiny vintage sticker stating: Bound by Westley's and Clarke London. 32 illustrations, including 9 hunting maps with vignettes at top. Inner hinges and page block holding fine. Plenty of foxing on preliminaries, small watermark at head of rep, and occasional foxing on margins of text, maps and illustrations. Sounds worse that it looks. Now protected in clear archival mylar. Full title: Hunting Reminiscences: Comprising Memoirs of Masters of Hounds; Notes of The Crack Riders; And Characteristics of the Hunting Countries of England. Illust with plates after Wildrake, Henderson and Alken.

One color plate with a cello tape repaired closed tear, one b/w plate taped in.
