1 Thomson, A. W. Sporting Honeymoons VG 1st ED/HB/DJ
London Heath Cranton Ltd 1935 First Edition Hardcover Very Good Very Good Book Fish-Hawk, Illustrator
Tight copy in slightly cocked grey paper covered boards w/black title spine. Light age-toning along board feet, tips & spine ends fairly sharp. Tiny worm hole through rear gutter with abrasion on two last pages with no loss to 286 pp text. There is no rear endpp, last page is printed text but does not appear to have anything pulled out. Very rare color illustrated dust jacket is a professional reproduction showing small chips and light surface soil with loss at center fore-edge of rear panel near flap fold and small strip of loss at head of rear panel, chips at spine ends but no loss of text. In Sporting Honeymoons, we enjoy the chronicles of a young married Irish couple, first tenting, and afterword settling down in a country where sport is the one element that fuses all classes and creeds together. Thomson tells in mirthful fashion (described as mirroring the work of Somerville and Ross), of adventures and misadventures. There is a good-natured laugh on every page. The quality of heart permeates all these rollicking pages, in which Orange and Green are so skillfully blended. Our books are cleaned and dust jackets placed in new mylar whenever possible. Offered from a five star, professional bookseller and proud member of the Virginia Antiquarian Booksellers Association. Your satisfaction is our #1 priority.
