Light foxing within, No formers names or markings. Color glossy illustrated boards showing a donkey and her colt eating flowers from a cottage window box. Corners of boards rubbed, Red cloth backstrip in good shape w/light rubbing at head. Faint, barely noticable pencil name on upper edge of frt cover. 72pg text is browned but not brittle. Front hinge cracked, spine has been properly reglued with ph neutral bookbinder's adhesive. No names, tears or soil within. #808 in the Father Tuck's Golden Gift Series. An anthology of stories, the first of which entitled The Squirrel and the Earl's Daughter has several pen and inks by Attwell. Very scarce and an early work by her. Following stories include: Florinda/ The Five Little Elves/ The Princess, The Griffin, and the Magic Cord/ Prince Darling and The Queen's Crown/ How the Fairies Stole Little Bell. Tucked between and amongst these stories are additional one page poems, tales and further illustrations. A glorious addition to any childhood collection and a belting display book for Donkey fans!
