1 Higginson, A. Henry M.F.H.; Foreword By The Duke of Beaufort Foxhunting Theory and Practice
London Collins 1948 First Edition Hardcover Very Good + Reproduction Book Illustrated
First UK edition. First Printing. Burgundy cloth boards with bumped extremities (not rubbed), dull spine title remains legible. Internally fine save for tidy name/date on blank fep, tiny vintage bookstore stamp at foot of rear paste down and a tiny number 17 in opposite corner of rear paste down. Professionally reproduced unclipped dj shows rubbing at tips and light soil on white rear panel but displays very well in new mylar sleeve. 256 tight bright pages. In Mr. Higginson's "Foxhunting", we have something that is badly needed - A book that deals with every aspect of the best of all sports as we enjoy it today," writes the Duke of Beaufort in his foreword. Mr. Higginson's contributions to the literature of sport cover a wide range, and foxhunting is the summary of his opinions and beliefs, on all that matters technical, practical and human, connected with the sport he knows and loves so well. He writes in these pages with the authority of long experience. Readers of Mr. Higginson's books - his previous one was Two Centuries of Foxhunting, will be delighted with this new work with its illustrations which convey so well the spirit of the hunting field. "Mr. Henry Higginson is an eminent authority on the subject. He has been a MFH, both in England and America, for fifty years; He has studied the literature of The Noble Science comprehensively, with a mind that richly appreciates every aspect of it, Whether technical or picturesque. "A review from The Listner".
