Full calf with 5 raised bands, gild embellished compartments, red and dark green title labels. Both boards two tone leather, ruled in gilt w/dentiled edges. AEG. Several boards detached, a few backstrips loose but attached on one side, only one with a half inch chip at head, others rubbed but essentially complete, shelf wear at tips and spine ends, gutters dry & cracked. All page blocks tight. Supreme candidate for repair as they still display well, just need reattaching at hinges. Rare set published by Macmillan between 1863 and 1866.
