Dark green cloth covered boards with gilt title and illust of apple tree branch w/fruit on frt board. Tips sharp, spine ends bumped, lightly surface worn extremities. Tight and bright text has occasional underlining and marginal notes in the first chapters only. DJ in glassine tattered, with split along the length of frt gutter showing clear cello tape, 1/4 of rear panel missing, 1 inch loss at head and and 2 closed tears horizontally along spine as well. Spine title remains legible. Contains dictionary-index of figures in mythology. Bulfinch's Mythology is a collection of the works of Thomas Bulfinch, born in Newton, Massachusetts in 1796, son of Charles Bulfinch, one of the architects of the national Capitol. When Bulfinch died in 1867 he had written seven books. Three of these, The Age of Fable, The Age of Chivalry, and Legends of Charlemagne, printed in one volume, have become known throughout the English-speaking workd as the perennial favorite, Bulfinch's Mythology. It is a classic work and is still being printed, even 150 years after the first work, Age of Fable, was published in 1855. Books are cleaned and dust wrappers placed in new mylar whenever possible.
