This is a favorite and hard to part with. It was represented to be carved wood but doesn't feel or 'sound' like wood when you tap it against your tooth. I think it is a carved horn horseshoe made from horn with 6 cut steel horseshoe nails. A very unique and detailed handmade purchased from Ipswich England. Impressive! Appears larger in size than it is, it measures a full 1 1/2 x 1 3/8. Original goldtone pin is slightly bent but works perfectly and has an early 'C" catch which tells us it is an early piece. Possibly turn of the century or a bit later. Umarked but in lovely condition.. A real English antique gem that more than likely adorned the stock tie or lapel of a huntress of long ago.
